I aim to depict a Unity Consciousness and Multi-Dimensional Awareness with my portrait studies, through exhibited instances of individual psyches, captured in fractions of time and space.
I have always been intrigued by the "invisible side" of our existence and constantly look for ways to capture our cohesive development in this regard.
With this body of work I offer fragments of our inevitable evolution to Unity Consciousness both independently and cohesively.
The content, composition and technique of my work push me to develop apt ways to support my exploration and understanding of my subject.
I spend hours looking through photographs, to find a single one that I associate with. And then, when I paint, it feels as though I connect with the person in a way that I would only be able to describe as a type of spiritual connection. It literally feels like a mutual visit in a space of unity consciousness. It is here that I endeavour to capture the essence.
I meticulously consider the distribution of form on my pictorial plane – obsessively aiming to represent the awareness of an advanced unity.
With my distinctive approach to the application of my medium on the surface of my canvas, as well as my use of colour (and lack thereof), I aim to offer a glance beyond the physical.
One of my favourite artists has always been Vermeer. I find it intriguing how the people in his portraits almost seem to look frozen in time. It causes me to feel like I’m not looking at a picture, but rather that I am inside the scene.
This is what inspired me to offer my interpretation of individual psyches in a way that the viewer might share my connection with the person in the painting, on a spiritual level.
My vision is, some day when unity consciousness or awareness is nothing unusual and intuition is a widespread form of communication, that my portraits will progressively and contentedly continue to converse.
. . . I will always keep exploring
